Obama Attacks Civil Liberties

It really upsets me to have to face the fact that the Obama administration really is going to adopt, and even expand, the same imperious powers claimed by the Bush administration. The Obama Justice Department has filed a motion to dismiss a case against the government over illegal wiretapping claiming the if the case went forward it would require divulging of "state secrets", and that, further, the government cannot be sued at all over illegal wiretapping for any actions in the past present or future. This claim of "sovereign immunity" argues that the government is immune from liability in this matter, and would incur liability only if, say, the NSA had publically released information it had obtained about someone via wiretapping. Keith Olbermann had some stern points to make on this subject recently. Have a look.

I just had a pretty long discussion about this with my friend Tototi, and didn't seem worried about it. I however, am in complete agreement with you and Olberman. It's so disappointing to see this behavior from Obama's administration.

I'd LOVE to see the right dig into him for this, however. Ah...republican hypocrisy, why do I love you so?
