Don't Talk to the Police
Justice Robert Jackson, chief US prosecutor at Nuremberg, Attorney General of the United States among many other impressive achievements stated this: (quoting loosely)
Any competent attorney worth his salt will always advise his client never to make any statement to the police under any circumstances.
To further explain this advice, I have attached a video of a lecture given by a defense attorney to a law school class. It's funny, entertaining and educational. Have a look.

yeah, it's funny, it's entertaining and educational, but it misses the true reason to not talk to police officers: they're a bunch of power hungry jerks.
