This is becoming a common experience, particularly in California. This video gives a look at the aftermath of foreclosure in a way I hadn't seen before. It's not really ideological, but newsy. Have a look.

My favorite part is the way Val Zavala seems to be smiling while talking about the hard times these people are going through. With the sound off, that introductory segment looks exactly like a tourism promotion video. On a more serious note, big city suburbs turning into ghost towns reminded me of the future described in the documentary, The End of Suburbia, though that was specifically about Peak Oil.
