The Water Crisis

A new and very important issue for all of us is water. This something we've taken for granted as long as we can remember. Now it's becoming important--no, critical. I'm surprised as you may be. Still, the supply of that flowing, clear, vital liquid is becoming stressed. In this audio interview, you will hear from an expert on the subject of water in America as interviewed by George Kenney, a Chicago trained economist and podcaster. George didn't prepare his listeners as he would have wished to concerning the interviewee's book "Water Follies", but I think the discussion proceeds largely comprehensively, as does George Kenney. So, check it out and add some perspective on what is a serious emerging issue.

Water Follies

Our neighbors across the ditch are already feeling the pinch. No watering your garden by hand, and sprinkle use is on set time tables. No washing your car with a hose, again, water waste. And the Government is subsidizing rain water collection tanks, and water tanks in general. Over here, we're still hiding our head in the stand because we have rivers and lakes and streams, and people still come here to fly fish. They're even thinking of introducing dairying to the Canterbury plains- hot dry climate, low rain fall and poor, alluvial soil. Idiots. We should go back to wheat growing. Or even sheep. However, the hydro lakes are down in water level equal to their level in the late 1990s which caused power outages. So looking forward to this winter!. Ps, the phone is still playing silly buggers as they say, and as the net is over the phone line (ADSL) then its also out. However I have installed Skype. Hurrah. So ofcourse, now the net is working and its 3:27am over there! I cleared 18 US Airforce crew today, based just north of Tacoma on the sound. They were stopping here via Hawaii, or something.
Talk to you soon,
Fav. Daughter.
